These sand dunes are located in southern
Colorado. They are the tallest dunes in North America, rising
over 750 feet high against the rugged Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
The 30 square miles of dunes became a national monument in
1932. It is a geologic wonderland. With the passage of the
Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve Act of 2000 resources
now also include alpine lakes and tundra, six peaks over 13,000'
in elevation, ancient spruce and pine forests, large stands
of aspen and cottonwood, grasslands, and wetlands--all habitat
for diverse wildlife and plant species. (Info: National Park

北アメリカ最大の大砂丘。コロラド州南中央部のサンルイスバレー（平原）の東に聳えるサングレデクリスト山脈麓に広がる広大な(４８平方キロ）大砂丘群たちは季節ごとに移動をします。どんなに人が荒らそうとも、風が砂を運んで傷を癒し風紋（砂紋）をあちこちに残しては消えます。あたかも風が顔を現し、または砂丘が何かを語りかけているかのように。夕暮れ前のほんのしばらくの間は太陽の角度で砂丘の陰が感情をむき出しにし、砂の表情が動き出します。人間が入ると自然に傷が残りますが自然は人間とは違ったスパンで修復や癒しプロセスをしてきました。そんな大昔から行われている砂の動きと表情を少しでも写真というメディアを通してキャプチャーできればという気持ちで「大砂丘」の写真撮影を始めました。ご意見、評価、ご指導など何なりとメールしてください。
